A journey through senses...

Hearing, Nov 9

My sense of hearing is fine. The only thing is, I have an auditory learning disability. It’s interesting to me, it’s not about the hearing itself, it’s about the way my brain processes the information that I hear. Growing up people thought I had ADHD or something because I had trouble concentrating. Then by the time I got to high school, where grades really matter, my grades began to slip. After years of my mom trusting school people to know what was wrong with me, and making me go to (stupid) therapy sessions, she had an external psychologist test me out. He was an expert in learning disabilities and diagnosed me. He gave me ways of note taking, and ways to maximize my skills, rather than suffer through. I became a very successful student after that. From time to time, however, I have my days where I really feel like everything I hear goes in one ear and out the other - literaly.
